Titus Magida is a skilled hair stylist with over 35 years of experience in the industry. He started his career at the age of 17 as an intern at Hilda’s Hair Salon in Mafikeng and eventually became a senior hairstylist at Heads and Faces Salon. After attending upgrading courses in hair analysis, relaxing, styling, and cutting at renowned institutions like Revlon Academy Soft ‘N Free Academy and Isoplus Workshop, he resigned in 1993 to establish his brand, Opila Haircare.

Titus has trained and employed over 35 hairstylists who have gone on to become prominent figures in the hair industry and other business sectors. He has partnered with Moses Moloi to establish MosDefinite Salon in Gauteng, Johannesburg, which has sadly recently shut down. In 2019, he acquired a hair salon in Sandton City Mall, which has been doing well despite the impact of Covid-19. His vision is to one day operate a chain of franchises in Johannesburg’s affluent shopping centers or big malls.

Business

  • In 1993, he resigned from Heads and Faces to establish Opila Haircare, partnering with Michael Kalaote to open La Scapa salon in Klerksdorp.
  • They opened another branch in Orkney, which performed well until the economic decline in the mining industry.
